Manchester United are prepared to allow their captain Harry Maguire leave the club this summer.
Reports emerged hours ago that manager Erik ten Hag was set to strip the England international of the club’s captain armband.
And this is coming alongside rumours of a summer transfer. Manchester Evening News now reports that the Red Devils want £50 million for the defender.
Samuel Luckhurst, a senior sports writer at the sports news outfit reported earlier on Monday the Red are now demanding £50 million for the Englishman.
He is, however, of the opinion that the club will struggle to find offers around the quoted sum.
Moreover, the £50 million price tag could hamper Maguire’s chances of securing a transfer this season should the Red Devils fail to lower their valuation.
Maguire, who joined from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 for a world-record fee for a defender of £80 million, is contracted with the club till 2025.
He spent most of last season on the bench for Manchester United as manager Erik ten Hag preferred Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof ahead of the former Hull City defender.
He recorded just eight starts in the league last campaign.
