Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.
The two Premier League clubs have agreed an initial fee of £47m (€55m).
There is no formal agreement yet, and discussions remain ongoing.
City youngster Tommy Doyle will go to Wolves on an initial loan with a £4.3m (€5m) option and a significant sell-on clause.
The deals are separate but Doyle’s move has helped with negotiations.
City have been looking for a creative midfielder since Kevin De Bruyne was ruled out for several months with a hamstring injury suffered in the first game of the season against Burnley.
