Financial research has shown that Arsenal have the highest Premier League net spend since Mikel Arteta took charge.
The impending signings of Rice and Jurrien Timber are set to take the Gunners’ net spend to over £665million since Arteta’s appointment as manager in December 2019.
There are also expected to be departures from the Emirates this season, with Nicolas Pepe and Thomas Partey possibly following Granit Xhaka out, which will bring their net spend down.
But, in contrast, Man City have won the Premier League title three times since Arteta’s exit to take charge of Arsenal, with a net spend of just over £181m – that’s lower than West Ham, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.
Chelsea are the top flight big spenders with over £1billion splashed out on new signings during the same time period, but sales of over £600m means their net spend is second on the list behind Arsenal at £502m.
