Leon Balogun has been replaced in Jose Peseiro’s squad by Valentine Ozornwafor as Nigeria’s head coach prepares to play Algeria in a friendly the following week.
Balogun was injured, according to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), despite playing the full 90 minutes in QPR’s goalless draw with Stoke City.
Michael Beale praised the former Rangers defender after the game, who claimed that his background gave the team a lot of composure.
Ozornwafor, who has already played three times for Nigeria, is a former U-20 international and one of the Super Eagles’ few left-footed centre backs.
On September 27, the Super Eagles will play the Desert Foxes at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran.
