Serie A: Romelu Lukaku could miss Milan derby with injury

Inter forward Romelu Lukaku could miss next weekend’s Derby della Madonnina match against AC Milan as the player is reportedly down with an injury.

The Belgian has made an immediate impact since joining the Nerazzurri on loan from Chelsea, scoring once and setting up another in his first three appearances.

The striker has been ruled out of Inter’s midweek match against Cremonese, according to Sky Sport Italia, and could miss next weekend’s derby match against Milan as a result of a thigh injury.

The Belgian is believed to have suffered the thigh injury in training on Sunday morning, when the squad reconvened following their 3-1 defeat to Lazio on Friday evening.

Lukaku might also be absent when the Nerazzurri play Bayern Munich in their Champions League group stage debut the following week.

The information is disappointing for Inter manager Simone Inzaghi, who hopes to revive the attacking partnership between Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez that propelled Inter to Scudetto glory under Antonio Conte in 2021.

The Nerazzurri lost their Serie A championship to their neighbours Milan last season after a humiliating 2-1 loss to Bologna at the end of April.
