Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, is the player with the highest number of fake Instagram followers, a new research has concluded.
The 37-year-old superstar is estimated to be earning £388,000 from fake followers on every single sponsored Instagram post.
New research compiled by livefootballtickets.com shows that when it comes to fake followers, Ronaldo comes out top, ahead of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Ronaldo recently became the first person to surpass 400million followers on the social media platform and currently has a total of 403million followers.
The research used Instagram credibility tool grin.co to find out the number of fake followers each player has, with social media earnings calculator inkifi.com was also used.
Ronaldo came out on top in the standings with 92.46million fake followers, which accounts for 23% of his total following.
He is estimated to earn £388,570 from fake followers per sponsored post, with the estimated total per post standing at £1.69million.
The 37-year-old’s illegitimate earnings per post stand at 35.3% more than Lionel Messi’s, who earns an estimated £287,210 from fake followers per post.
