Mauricio Pochettino has said that Chelsea were able to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Monday because their performance improved.
Chelsea defeated Tottenham 4-1 on Monday night to end their unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Spurs were down to 9 men after Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were sent off in the 33rd and 55th minutes respectively.
Chelsea made most of their numerical advantage with goals from Cole Palmer and a hat-trick from Nicolas Jackson.
The Blues have now returned to the top side of the Premier League table for the first time this season.
Tottenham tried to hold their own despite being two men down but Pochettino’s men ensured they left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points.
“I thought Tottenham were the better team in the first 15 minutes and then we started to play better.
“I thought our performance was good. I thought that everything that happened in the game was fair,” Pochettino said.
