Premier League: Arsenal struggle as Newcastle thrash Arteta’s side 2-0

Newcastle hosted Arsenal in the Premier League game Monday evening as Mikel Arteta’s side struggled not to get served more goals by the Magpies.

Newcastle had little to play for other than pride, with Eddie Howe’s stunning turnaround in form long ensuring the Magpies of safety.

However, they were eager to put on a display in their final home game of the season, especially following defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City. Newcastle have won their previous four league games in a row, and beating Arsenal made it their fifth win in a row.

The Gunners currently trail Tottenham by two points but have a game in hand over Antonio Conte’s side. Rob Holding’s suspension added to Arteta’s woes, with doubts over the fitness of Gabriel Magalhaes leaving the Gunners desperately short in defence.
