The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has nominated Barcelona Femeni’s Asisat Oshoala for the 2023 Women’s African Player of the Year award.
The Super Falcons’ striker has already won it for a record fifth time.
Oshoala claimed the pretigious award in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022.
The 29-year-old is also the favourite to claim the award again following a stellar campaign which saw her win the UEFA Women’s Champions League with Barcelona.
Oshoala also had a decent outing for Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup where scored once in four games.
Six of her Super Falcons teammates, Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Christy Ucheibe, Uchenna Kanu, Osinachi and Toni Payne are also nominated for the award.
The 2023 CAF Awards Gala will be held in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday, November 11, 2023.
