Neymar was cleared of charges of fraud and corruption related to his 2013 move from Santos to Barcelona.
Additionally, a Spanish court cleared Neymar’s father, the two clubs, and former Barcelona presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu, Sandro Rosell, and Odilio Rodrigues of any wrongdoing.
After complaints from DIS, a Brazilian company that owned 40% of Neymar when he was playing for Santos, the Brazilian international’s move in 2013 was the subject of the trial in October.
Spanish prosecutors brought the case, and DIS claimed financial loss because the other parties had understated the transfer’s true value.
While the prosecutors were hoping for a two-year prison term for Neymar, DIS was asking for a five-year prison sentence as well as a fine of up to €149 million.
But the forward, who is now with Paris Saint-Germain, has been cleared. He might play again for PSG when they face Strasbourg on December 28 in the start of the Ligue 1 season after Brazil’s elimination from the World Cup.
