In 2022, teams in La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A, the Bundesliga, and the French league had to tighten their budgets, but Premier League teams spent a lot of money on new acquisitions.

Newcastle United spent the most in the January transfer window following the end of Mike Ashley’s 14-year ownership of the club by a Saudi-led consortium.

Here are the 20 current Premier League clubs, ranked by net spending since the beginning of the January 2022 transfer window, according to data from transfermarkt.

According to the statistics, Premier League clubs’ combined net transfer spending in 2022 exceeded £1 billion, with three clubs spending more than £200 million. Additionally, only three of the 20 Premier League teams managed to turn a profit on transfers during the year.
