Me, the club and fans are hugely disappointed- Chelsea star Drinkwater pens down emotional Goodbye message

In a farewell letter to Chelsea fans, Danny Drinkwater has written a poignant and honest message. Drinkwater is likely to leave Chelsea following a disappointing five years in the club.

The Englishman will go down in history as one of the worst moves ever. In 2017, he was purchased for a cost of roughly 35 million euros from Leicester City.

With N’Golo Kante, it was believed that he would repeat his midfield dominance. At Leicester, the two forged a strong partnership that helped them win the English Premier League for the first time in 2016.

However, things began to deteriorate, and regular games became scarce. In the last four years, Drinkwater has not appeared in a competitive game for Chelsea.

Burnley, Aston Villa, Kasimpasa, and Reading have all been unsatisfactory loan destinations for him. Antonio Conte led Chelsea to FA Cup triumph in 2018, which was his only silverware with the club.

Drinkwater wrote on his Instagram account

My time at Chelsea has come to an end…actually feels really strange writing this. Me, the club and fans are hugely disappointed with the outcome there is no doubt about that.

Injuries, how I have been treated, mistakes I have made, issues off the pitch, lack of game time…the list of excuses could be endless but I would not and cannot change what’s happened.

I am going to look at the positives over the past 5 years, I have played with great players, been coached by awesome managers, worked with some brilliant staff, met some fantastic people, lived in some beautiful places, travelled the world and won some more silverware.

Football is a fantastic sport but this for both parties was a business move gone wrong. It’s as black and white as that. To the Chelsea fans I apologize for how this has turned out I would have loved for u to see me at my best in that shirt doing what I love. All the best
