After missing out on qualification for the 2022 World Cup, William Troost-Ekong is eager to go back on the pitch with the Super Eagles.
Kemifilani reports that Mexico and Nigeria will face each other at AT&T Stadium (Arlington, Texas) in an International Friendly Sunday 29.
According to Complete Sports, Ekong has commended Nigerians for their continuing support of the national team and pledged that the Super Eagles will rise again.
Recall that Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after being eliminated on the away goals rule by arch-rivals Ghana following a 1-1 draw in Abuja.
“It has been a tough few months for all of us, it’s a big heartache we have to keep on moving. When you fall down you have to stand up again, this team has been down before and came back and I believe we will do it again.
“Lastly, I have to say a big thank you to the fans, I will ask them and encourage them to stay behind the team we all know how much it means for us.”
Following the Super Eagles’ inability to get a World Cup entry, the Nigeria Football Federation has selected Portuguese coach Jose Poseiro as their new coach.
