Jules Kounde: Barcelona closing in on Sevilla star

Barcelona and Jules Kounde of Sevilla have reached an agreement, according to reports.

After agreeing on a fee with Sevilla and personal terms with the player late last week, Chelsea believed they had won the race for the Frenchman. However, Barcelona had a last-minute change of heart and pursued an agreement of their own.

The Catalan team agreed on a contract with Kounde, and they then started negotiating a transfer fee with Sevilla. They initially came up short, but eventually agreed to pay the €50 million asking price plus €10 million in add-ons.

The payment plan was discussed on Wednesday, and sources have now confirmed that Sevilla have accepted Barcelona’s offer, allowing Kounde to finally move to Camp Nou.

When given the choice between Chelsea and Barcelona, Kounde decided to join Xavi’s team, making him the fifth senior signing for the Blaugrana this summer.
