Cristiano Ronaldo has said the road won’t be easy for Portugal as his country prepares for the World Cup play-offs.
Portugal will face Turkey on Thursday to face meet either Italy or North Macedonia in same World Cup play-off path.
According to Ronaldo on Facebook, Portugal will fight for their place but still has respect for their opponents.
He wrote, “Total focus on World Cup 2022. Proud as always to represent Portugal. We know the road won’t be easy, we have the utmost respect for the opponents we will face and who share the same goals as us. But, together, we will fight to put Portugal in our rightful place. Let’s do this!”
Meanwhile, AFP reports that veteran defender Pepe will miss Portugal’s World Cup play-off semi-final against Turkey after testing positive for Covid-19.
The 39-year-old will be replaced by Lille centre-back Tiago Djalo, 21.
The 2016 European champions also without injured Manchester City defender Ruben Dias.
