“It was a good step in the right direction”- Jurgen Klopp on Fabinho’s form against Napoli

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool star Fabinho can overcome his current troubles and reclaim his place in the Reds’ midfield.

The Brazilian’s form has been inconsistent this season, and he has been left out of the starting lineup in key games such as away matches against Manchester United and Arsenal.

He did, however, play in Liverpool’s Champions League win over Napoli on Tuesday, a performance Klopp described as “pure joy” to analyze from a footballing standpoint.

Jurgen Klopp’s comment

“The [Napoli] game was a clear sign of Fabinho how we know him. It was a good game, we defended in all positions on a different level to the week before, and so that was good. It felt good, very important for him to realize that that’s possible as well, and [it was] a good step in the right direction,” Klopp told reporters ahead of Liverpool’s weekend trip to Tottenham.

Liverpool’s possible formation against Tottenham

Klopp used a 4-3-3 formation against Napoli after previously experimenting with a 4-4-2 and a midfield diamond. He is likely to stick with a 4-3-3 formation at Tottenham, with captain Jordan Henderson due to return after missing midweek with a slight injury.

The Reds travel to Tottenham on Sunday aiming to regain their league form after losses to struggling Nottingham Forest and Leeds.
