Former Premier League star, Darren Bent, has accused Manchester United defender Harry Maguire of harming his own chances of playing in the England national team.
This is following the player’s decision to stay and fight for his place at Manchester United.
England national team boss Gareth Southgate has already taken a chance on the centre-back by retaining his place in the starting XI.
Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has shown clearly that the 30-year-old is no longer in his plan at Old Trafford.
But Bent believes that Maguire’s place in England XI will be tested if he continues to play a bit-part role at Old Trafford, after his transfer to West Ham fell through
“I don’t like it,” Bent said on talkSPORT.
“It shows a lot of complacency and a lack of ambition from him.
“If he sits on the bench all season, Southgate will say enough is enough.”
