EPL: Spurs regret not signing Kim Min-jae despite Son Heung-min endorsement

Tottenham Hotspur have internally acknowledged that it was a mistake to not pursue their initial interest in South Korean center-back Kim Min-jae after his stellar start at Napoli.

Reports state that Spurs expressed interest in the defender, who was signed by Chinese Super League team Beijing Guoan as of September 2020, and that they had spoken with Son about the possibility of such a deal.

Nevertheless, despite Son’s enthusiastic support for Kim, Tottenham refused to spend more than £10 million on a deal, and the following summer, Kim ended up signing with Fenerbahce.

Kim earned a €18 million transfer to Napoli this summer after spending just one year there, and he has been a major contributor to the Italian team’s outstanding 2022–23 campaign.

Son has received an apology from Tottenham, who have acknowledged that they made a mistake by not making a stronger effort to sign Kim in the past.
