Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has slammed the club’s new signing, Sofyan Amrabat following a disastrous first-half in their defeat against Crystal Palace.
Manchester United fell to a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Amrabat joined Manchester United from Fiorentina on the final day of the summer transfer window and made his first start for the club midweek against Palace.
Erik ten Hag decided to start the Moroccan on the left-back against Crystal Palace where he gave away the free kick that led to the only goal of the game after 25 minutes.
Schmeichel highlighted the player’s poor first-half display.
‘lWe talked about Amrabat before the game, it is first full Premier League game and he has just not had a great game so far,” Schmeichel said on Premier League Productions.
‘He gives a silly foul away which leads to this free kick.
“I expected a Danish player [United striker Rasmus Hojlund] to score at the other end today but for Joachim Anderson to hit the ball like that, what a fantastic goal.”
