Former Chelsea and Everton boss Frank Lampard has revealed he wanted the Blues to re-sign Declan Rice during his first spell as manager at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard said he saw the midfielder as a future ‘captain of Chelsea for the next ten years’.
However, those in charge of the west London side did not make it happen, and he’s now set to join their London rivals Arsenal instead.
“When I was at Chelsea before, I wanted to bring in Declan Rice,” Lampard told
Steven Bartlett on the latest the Diary of a CEO podcast.
“I was like this kid is going to be the captain of Chelsea for the next ten years.
“It didn’t happen, anyway, it is hard to dissect people’s work.”
