Erik ten Hag, the manager of the Red Devils, has provided updates on the fitness of his team ahead of Wednesday’s crucial match at Old Trafford.
Anthony Martial is still out with a back injury for Manchester United, but Christian Eriksen could face his former club Tottenham.
Due to the back injury he sustained in the 2-1 away victory at Everton, Martial was unable to participate in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle.
After contracting a sickness, Eriksen missed the stalemate against the Magpies as well.
United also struggled without the midfielder because they lacked imagination in the final third of the field.
Eriksen, who played 305 times for Spurs between 2013 and 2020, is available to play them, which is good news for Ten Hag.
Ten Hag said the following during his pre-game press conference: “Anthony Martial is not available.
“He’s back on the pitch but not in the team training.
“Christian Eriksen returned in the team training today.
“And we have to see how that works out, how he will recover, if he has the energy tomorrow, so we have to wait for that.”
Ten Hag also revealed that Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are nearing a return to action with the trio currently out through separate injuries.
He remarked: “They are making good progress all (of them). They will all return in team training this week.”
