EPL: Did he really say that? – Klopp mocks Chelsea owner, Boehly over all-star idea

Todd Boehly

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has commented on Chelsea owner Todd Boehly‘s suggestion of a Premier League ‘All-Star’ game between the north and south of England.

Boehly claims the all-star game will help raise money for the English football pyramid.

Klopp was asked about this idea after the Reds beat Ajax 2-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday.

He replied: “When he finds a date for that, he can call me.

“In the big sports in America, they have four-month breaks. It is completely different in football.

“Does he want to bring the Harlem Globetrotters as well?

“I am not sure people want to see that. Did he really say that?”

The American also called for a ‘four-team tournament’ to take place at the bottom of the table to determine which clubs go down at the end of the season rather than straight relegation for three teams.

Boehly, who led a consortium to complete a £4.25billion takeover of Chelsea in May, has claimed the Premier League could learn a lot from American sports in creating more revenue.
