EPL: Chelsea beat Everton as Jorginho nets winning goal

Chelsea began their Premier League campaign with a tenacious 1-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park with a Jorginho’s goal.

Everton, who under Frank Lampard have shown signs of improvement after a disastrous season in which they were dragged into a relegation dogfight,

The Toffees more than match the Blues despite lacking a star striker, but they are unable to get past Edouard Mendy.

Jorginho scored from the penalty spot after Abdoulaye Doucoure fouled Ben Chilwell in the box to put Chelsea ahead.

Nine minutes into the first half’s stoppage time, Jorginho confidently slid the ball into the corner.

The Blues searched and searched for a second goal, but they just couldn’t find it. Raheem Sterling believed he had scored his first goal for Chelsea, but the goal was disallowed.
