Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey was elated to see his compatriot Alex Iwobi during Fulham’s training.
Iwobi joined the Craven Cottage club from Everton on transfer deadline day in a deal worth €25.7million.
This makes him the second Nigerian player at Craven Cottage alongside Calvin Bassey.
Iwobi could not train with Bassey at Fulham before the international break because he was nursing a hamstring injury. That also ruled out the former Everton man from the Super Eagles squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.
Nonetheless, Iwobi returned to training earlier in the week, and both players met in training for the first time. Bassey was clearly happy to see him as he jumped and hugged him immediately after they met.
Fulham play Luton Town in the Premier League on Saturday, and Iwobi and Bassey could be on the pitch at the same time.
Bassey is yet to convince Marco Silva to give him a first team shirt, while Iwobi is yet to fully integrate into the team. Still, they could get minutes against a Luton side that have lost all their Premier League games this season.
