Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has come under fire following Liverpool’s 1-0 win at the Forest Ground on Saturday.
The Super Eagles star was introduced from the bench in the second half with the game still goalless.
Awoniyi missed a few half chances to give the hosts the lead.
However, he played a part in the build-up that led to Darwin Nunez’s 99th minute winner.
The combination of Awoniyi and Callum Hudson-Odoi spurned the chance to clear the ball at the other end and it was costly.
Alexis MacAllister crossed the ball back in for Nunez to head home.
@tboysbt: Awoniyi sold this game. And how was that not a penalty?? Yeah title gone. Unbelievable. I’m in shock, can’t clear the ball, VAR doesn’t care. Head loss
@WillVec90: Awoniyi nah Liverpool boy. Once a Liverpool always a Liverpool 😊
@FlyBoyFatah: Awoniyi is useless. Blaze that ball
@different_dan1: Hudson-Odoi shouldn’t have opted for a tiki-taka at that minute and Awoniyi should have also cleared the ball🤦🏾♂️
Easy to decide because we’re not on the pitch 🤦🏾♂️ Sad they lost the game at the last minute
