Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has reacted to Moises Caicedo’s record move to Chelsea.
The England poked fun at the fact he has already lost the title as the Premier League’s most expensive player of the 2023 summer transfer.
Chelsea brought in Caicedo for £115 million from Brighton while the Gunners had earlier paid £105m to West Ham for Rice.
Rice’s fee represented a club-record deal while the total package will exceed the British-record £100m Manchester City spent on Jack Grealish a few summers back.
But Chelsea priced Caicedo away from Brighton, beating off competition from Liverpool to secure a £115m deal.
The deal sets a new Premier League transfer record.
Rice has now seen his mammoth transfer fee put in the shade by Caicedo.
Rice was asked about the transfer situation after Arsenal beat West Ham 1-0 in the Premier League on Monday night and the England midfielder burst out laughing and told Sky Sports, “I had it up on the wall for two weeks! It’s come down already!”
