Arsenal have identified Chelsea’s target, Ivan Toney as the player to lead their attack eventually.
The Gunners are now making preparations to land the England international in the January transfer window.
This means that Toney may not be returning to Brentford after serving his eight-month ban which he was slammed for accepting 232 breaches of the Football Association’s rules on betting.
He will not play football until January 17, 2024 when his punishment will be over.
The Mirror reports that Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, wants those in charge of business at the club to bring in a new striker and Toney is being considered.
Brentford are said to have placed a £60 million price tag for Toney.
According to the report, Chelsea are also interested in signing the striker as they look to solve their attacking issues.
The Bees boss, Thomas Frank, said last week that they would not hold back if a better offer comes for Toney, that is “if the right price is there.”
