Arsenal striker, Gabriel Jesus, will not be part of their squad for the Emirates Cup clash with Monaco on Wednesday.
Jesus has been in good form during pre-season, as Arsenal look to make a flying start to their Premier League campaign.
But his absence could provide an opportunity to Eddie Nketiah, who has been waiting in the wings behind the Brazilian.
Folarin Balogun has missed the last two fixtures and has been training alone, with Arteta insisting he has a foot injury.
The American has been heavily linked with an exit from the Emirates after interest from Inter and AC Milan.
But with Jesus out, it could be an opportunity for Balogun to impress.
The nature of Jesus’ absence is unclear but an injury would be a huge blow with the start of the season in a fortnight’s time.
