Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has rated the performance of Kai Havertz after their Community Shield victory against Manchester City on Sunday
The Spaniard described Havertz’s display as ‘superb’.
Manchester City took the lead through Cole Palmer in the 77th minute but Leandro Trossard equalised for the Gunners in the closing stages of the game to force a penalty shootout.
Arsenal came out victorious after the shootout to claim the very first trophy of the season.
Havertz, meanwhile, spearheaded Arsenal’s attack in the absence of Gabriel Jesus
Arteta said he was impressed with the performance of the former Chelsea forward who joined for £65 million this summer.
“He was superb,” Arteta said when asked about Havertz’s display against City.
“The way he pressed and how intelligent he is to try and understand certain spaces and the timing of it, he was great and got in great positions to score.
“He was unlucky not to score but he was very physical when he needed to be, so I was very pleased with him.”
