Chelsea's first summer signing revealed

Chelsea has reportedly made acquiring Sevilla defender Jules Kounde a priority once the UK government shutdown ends. The need to strengthen their defense has been clear in recent weeks, with the West London club set to lose a number of defenders at the conclusion of the season.

As the Germany international prepares to transfer to Real Madrid, Antonio Rudiger leads a series of defenders ready to leave the Blues.

Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta, who had been favoured to join Barcelona, are among those expected to follow Rudiger.

The Blues have now turned to Kounde to fill the vacuum left by Rudiger and Christensen, according to Goal.

Chelsea is reportedly looking for a quality center defender and has nominated Kounde for the position.

According to the report, both Chelsea and Sevilla are eager to finalize the trade as soon as possible, with the latter hoping to find a suitable replacement for Kounde before the deadline.

Last summer, Kounde was on the verge of joining Chelsea, but the deal fell through as Thomas Tuchel’s team refused to reach his value.
