Tottenham Hotspur will defeat Arsenal in the forthcoming north London derby, according to Manchester United veteran Gary Neville.
Spurs will welcome their arch-rivals in a crucial Premier League match on Thursday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. With only three games remaining, both teams are vying for the fourth and final UEFA Champions League position.
Arsenal are four points clear of Antonio Conte’s team, who drew with Liverpool last weekend. A victory would mark their return to the tournament after a five-year absence.
However, Neville believes Spurs should not be written off just yet. He feels they can give the Gunners a fight for their money after a strong showing at Anfield.
He stated on ‘The Gary Neville Podcast’ (via HITC):
“I fancy Tottenham on Thursday night. I think they were brilliant last night at Anfield.”
Tottenham was cruising in fourth position after four successive wins in March and April. They have now lost a lot of steam, winning only one of their following four games.
This corresponded with the Gunners’ improved record. Mikel Arteta’s team went from losing three consecutive games to winning their next four, including a 4-2 victory against Chelsea and a 3-1 victory over Manchester United.
Three more points in the derby will secure Arsenal’s place in the top four. They haven’t had much luck in previous travels to Spurs, losing both of their games. Arsenal hasn’t done a league double over their city rivals since the 2013-14 season, making their meeting even more exciting.
