Andrey Arshavin claims that Arsen Zakharyan, who is a target for Chelsea, has allowed the possibility of a loan move and “will join” the team in the January transfer window.
Arshavin, who made his name with Arsenal throughout London, asserts that his countryman “must” transfer to the Premier League in order to advance his career.
An offer for the 19-year-old midfielder from Chelsea was accepted. The player’s agent also said he was close to signing a £12.5 million deal to join the Blues.
His representative, Pavel Andreev, said: “This is true. Everything is close.”
But on the deadline day, it became clear that the deal couldn’t be done because of the sanctions the U.K. government had imposed on Russia. It would have meant that Chelsea’s money transfer to Dynamo would not have been approved.
Even the journalist Hrach Khachatryan asserted that Zakharyan’s application to change his citizenship from Russian to Armenian was “one of Chelsea’s requirements.”
However, the Russian team tweeted that Arsen Zakharyan was still playing for Dynamo.
“On August 25, Dynamo received an offer from Chelsea regarding the transition. However, due to a number of technical reasons beyond our control, it is impossible to transfer the player to this. It was decided that Arsene would continue to play for Dynamo.”
Arshavin, who played for Arsenal in over 100 Premier League games, would be very helpful to his fellow countryman.
According to Chelsea-news, Arshavin stated, “I’m not upset that Zakharyan’s transfer to Chelsea failed.”
“Well, he will join in January. At first, he will not be starter, but then he will be. He must join Chelsea.”
Zakharyan, who has played in seven games this season and has one goal and two assists, remains eager to move and has left the door open for a loan.
