Super Eagles trio Joseph Ayodele Aribo, Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun were in action as Rangers FC suffered 2-1 defeat in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League round of 16 clash against Red Star Belgrade, on Thursday.
Serbian midfielder Mirko Ivanić opened scoring for the hosts in the 10th minute.
Ryan Kent equalized for Rangers in the 56th minute. But a late penalty goal from Fardou Bent gave Red Star a deserving victory.
However, the Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition despite the loss having beat Red Star 3-0 in the first encounter.
Meanwhile, the UEFA Europa game between Galatasaray and Barcelona ended 1-2 in favour in of Barca.
Marcao gave Galatasaray the lead in the 28th minute. But goals from Pedri (37th minute) and Aubameyang (49th minute) saw Barcelona cruised into the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals on 1-2 aggregate.
