Andrea Pirlo speaks out after Cristiano Ronaldo threw Juventus’ shirt to the floor after 3-1 win over Genoa

Andrea Pirlo, has reacted, after Cristiano Ronaldo flung his jersey to the floor in frustration following Juventus’ 3-1 win against Genoa in a Serie A game on Sunday.

The 36-year-old Portugal captain was giving the shirt to a ball boy at the end of the game when he threw it away at the Allianz before he walked down the tunnel into the dressing room.

And it appeared the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star acted out of anger from the frustration that he failed to score against Genoa at home.

Dejan Kulusevski put the home side ahead with Alvaro Morata and US international Weston McKennie putting the game to bed for Pirlo’s side.

This is happening a few weeks after the Portugal international threw his national team captain’s armband to the ground and walked down the tunnel before the final whistle after his effort ruled out Portugal’s 2-2 draw against Serbia in World Cup qualifying last month.

Pirlo defended his star man when asked about the player’s apparent anger by Sky Sports, saying, “It’s normal he wanted to score a goal, especially seeing that the match had turned out in a certain way.

“It is part of the attitude of champions who always want to leave their mark.”
