Following his appearance in Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Mason Greenwood has been remanded in custody.
On November 21, he will make his appearance before Manchester Crown Court.
Charges against Greenwood include attempted rape, coercive behavior, and assault.
Greenwood had violated bail terms “persistently and flagrantly,” according to a district judge.
He was first detained in January 2022, but wasn’t charged until Saturday, just after he was detained again for violating his bail terms.
Manchester United confirmed shortly after his arrest that he would not return to first-team activities while the case was ongoing, and reaffirmed his suspension in a statement following his charges.
“Manchester United notes that criminal charges have been brought against Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service,” the club said.
“He remains suspended by the club, pending the outcome of the judicial process.”
Greenwood has not played for Manchester United since their 1-0 win against West Ham in January, days before his first arrest.
