The Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Kalu, has said Asiwaju Bola Tinubu running for president on a Muslim-Muslim ticket does not matter.
Since Tinubu, a Muslim from the South-West, emerged as the presidential flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress, many have been eager to know who he will pick as his running mate.
Due to the gentleman’s agreement between the North and the South, a presidential candidate from one region often picks his vice from the other.
Also, when someone from one of the two major religions in the country – Christianity and Islam – emerges presidential candidate, he’s expected to pick someone from the other religion as his running mate.
In Tinubu’s case, he’s expected to pick a running mate from the North who must be a Christian.
Speaking, Orji Kalu, while fielding questions concerning Tinubu’s running mate, pointed out that “If Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has lived with his wife, who is a senior pastor of a pentecostal church in Nigeria God over 40 yrs, we can come to the conclusion that his choice of a running mate does not matter.”
