Hi Kemi Filani.
Please help me alert the undiscerning public about
all these text messages that the mafia send to one’s phone[s] using all the mobile
networks.

networks.
These “mafia” as I want to call them seem to have
made a deal with all network providers to make the people part with their hard
earned money/credit balance without their knowing.

All of them tell you it is either a 3 day or a 7day
free tips on a particular topic (health, fashion, music) or 7 day free
tips/jokes…By the time you send them the code, they automatically welcome you
into the subscription/financial slaughter room.

If you are the rich type recharging 1500naira credit
daily or weekly, you may not realize how the credit keeps declining in value.
But for many of us who are wary of their vices and ploy (we think we are) we
should be more careful from now on.

Some messages you will ignore and delete without
reading to the end, this we found to be the receiver’s financial drainage pipe.
reading to the end, this we found to be the receiver’s financial drainage pipe.
An example ‘Your callertunz service will expire on
2013-10-16.——-. To renew the service @N50 monthly, take no action. For
information on how to cancel, text HELP to 4100”

If you just read the first line and delete, you just
tell them to continue deducting the money though they say monthly; it is
weekly. I have another proof.

On 10/10/13 I got a message on my line 07061565047
which read “congrats! You now have 7 days free callertunez subscription.
Download any tune and win a smart phone. Text to 4100 to get Greenland @N50”. As
usual, I wanted to delete the message but I mistakenly pressed the OK button on
my phone thinking it was the option key to carry out the DELETE action and N50
was automatically removed.

Another message followed from same 4100 that read “You
have successfully subscribed to MTN callertunz….To prevent subsequent
deductions, I sent STOP to 4100 but it didn’t work.

I called the customer service of MTN many times even
for two days so as to stop further remittance but the line was not picked nor
attended to.

Within seconds another message came from 4100 that
read “Yello, you have subscribed to the callertune <Great nation 2 > for
N50. This tune expires on 2013-11-09”

All these messages were received on 10/10/13 within
60 seconds….Four days later, i.e, Sunday 13/10/13 the message, used as example
earlier, came up that the subscription (which was never backed up with any
callertunes) would expire on the 16/10/13.[No longer in November,i.e, N50 would
be deducted the following week and subsequent weeks if no action is taking]

I say all these to tell you to read all the messages
thoroughly to the end and note the key to press before pressing so that unknowingly
you don’t play into their hands.

4880 for Airtel, 4080 another for
MTN,and the other codes to defraud the public.

For those who want to participate, I am not dissuading
them from it; but those who are not interested, take your time and stop your
financial drainage.
