Man docked for allegedly being in possession of 32 sim cards

Isaac Tony, a 21-year-old unemployed man, was charged on Friday in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly having 32 sim cards from various network providers.

Tony, a resident of Oshodi in Lagos, is accused of fraud.

Insp. Innocent Odugbo, the prosecutor’s attorney, informed the court that Tony committed the crime on December 15 in the Oshodi neighbourhood of Lagos’ Apakun Lanre.

According to Odugbo, the defendant was detained by the police after they thought his movements were suspicious.

The prosecutor claimed that 32 SIM cards were discovered on him while he was being searched.

Odugbo said that when the police questioned him, he couldn’t give a satisfactory account on how he came about those SIM cards.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 328 and 329 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs M. F Onamusi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in likesum.

Onamusi adjourned the case until March 13 for mention. (NAN)
