Mukaila Wasiu, 45, who allegedly assaulted another, appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The defendant is on trial before Magistrate Mr L.J.K Layeni on a single count of assault.
He, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Dr Simon Uche, the prosecutor, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on January 25 at the Hassan bus stop in Ojo’s Shibiri neighbourhood.
He claimed that a fight broke out after a misunderstanding between the defendant and a complainant, one Wasiu Lasisi.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant had consequentlly, drawn out a knife which he used in inflicting injuries on the complainant, resulting in grievious body harm.
He told the court that the defendant was eventually arrested by the police and detained.
He said that the offence contravened the provision of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, one of who must be a family member.
He adjourned trial until March 1. (NAN)
