Man, 27, docked for alleged theft

A 27-year-old man, Gbadamosi Olanrewaju, on Thursday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly stealing N718, 590,00.

Olanrewaju, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and fraudulent conversation.

The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Ahmed Sanni, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between Oct. 22 and April 18 at no; 64, Owolowo str, Ojubode area of Ikorodu.

Sanni said the defendant stole and fraudulently converted N718,590.00 meant for the sale of DStv compact activation to his personal use.

The prosecutor said that the money belong to E&K global services.

He said the offence contravened Section 280(b) and was punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing.

The Magistrate, Mrs A. R. Onilogbo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation, address must be verified, and adjourned the case until June 22 for mention. (NAN)
