Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu, on Sunday, rescued five accident victims in the Gboko Local Government Area of the State.
The Deputy Governor Benson Abounu rescued the accident victims near Tse Kucha, Gboko while on his way to the thanksgiving/building dedication service of NKST Church, Ahobee, Ikyogen, Ikurav-Ya, Kwande local government area, organised by the Church in collaboration with the family of Mr Ugbo Terso Ephraim, driver to his wife, Hon. Justice Mary Abounu, a High Court judge in the Benue State judiciary.
The Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu and his convoy ran into the accident. A car conveying a man and his family from Gboko to Makurdi left its lane, made a sudden U-turn and rammed into a tree. The man, Pst. Felix Gbaeren was travelling with his wife, two children and a middle-aged man. Fortunately, none of them died but all of them were badly injured and none was able to come out of the car.
“The deputy governor, Benson Abounu had to come down and help in rescuing the victims, who were then taken to the Gboko General Hospital in his Toyota Hilux vehicle. He then went to the hospital to ensure that the 5 people, 2 of who were unconscious were stabilised before he continued his journey,” his media aide, Ede Ogaba Ede said.
