Super Falcons of Nigeria have won the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations by defeating South Africa 4-3 via penalty shoot out, the regulation time ended 0-0.
The match was a keenly contested affair with both sides trying to be cautious not to concede.
Thomas Dennerby replaced star striker, Desire Oparanozie with Rasheedat Ajibade.
The Super Falcons struggled to break down the South Africans but Francisca Ordega won a penalty for Nigeria in the 75th minute, Asisat Oshoala failed to convert from the spot.
The regulation time ended goalless both sides failed to score in the extra time before the Super Falcons edged it in the penalty shoot out 4-3, Tochukwu Oluehi was the star of the shootout as she saved the last kick to win the trophy for Nigeria.
Nigeria have won the competition nine times.
