Update: Police speak on attack on Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy, death of aides

The Anambra State Police command has spoken about the attack on the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah representing Anambra South senatorial zone at Enugwu Ukwu in the Njikoka local government area of the state on Sunday.

KEMI FILANI NEWS had reported that gunmen attacked Ubah’s convoy at Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, with an unspecified number of police officers feared killed.

According to sources, the incident, which happened late on Sunday, saw about six policemen killed when the gunmen and police operatives engaged in a gun battle after the assailants opened fire on Ubah’s convoy.

Reacting, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement said: “The Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command CP Echeng Echeng has led operatives to the scene where sporadical shootings took place in Enugwu ukwu. 

“Though the details of the incident is still sketchy, operatives are on ground there as operations is going on and the situation is being monitored.

“Further details shall be communicated please.“
