Troops of Operation Hadin Kai killed six Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during gun battle and repelled attacks on Monguno and the military formation in Abbari Kasuwan Shani area of Borno State.
According to Vanguard, sources said the troops successfully repelled the attack and killed scores of terrorists in Monguno.
The terrorists reportedly invaded the town in large numbers at about 8:30 pm on Friday with gun trucks, motorcycles and heavy weapons and began to shoot sporadically in the air.
The troops and other security agencies mobilized and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle which lasted till 11:30 pm, resulting in heavy casualties.
Sources also disclosed that troops had earlier repelled a similar attack on the town on Thursday night at about 2 am when the terrorists attempted to attack a Military formation in Abbari Kasuwan Shani.
A Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama, confirmed the incidents.
Makama said the troops who were already alerted of the terrorist movement engaged them and killed six.
Heexplained that others escaped with bullet wounds and one soldier killed during the gun battle.
He further stated that the ISWAP terrorists later mobilized some fighters on 12 motorcycles and six gun trucks, mostly dressed in black from the axis of Marte and Kukawa, to embark on a reprisal attack mission.
Operation Hadin Kai’s troops of Sector 3 killed scores of them, forcing other terrorists to withdraw in disarray.
