Samuel Abiola, a 30-year-old security guard, was charged on Monday at an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing 51 bamboo tree pieces worth N30,600.
The Police accused Abiola of conspiring and stealing; his address was not given.
The defendant and a second person who is still at large committed the crimes on January 13 at around one in the morning at Lavinda Estate Phase 1, Obasanjo Fence, Ejigun Itele, Awori, Ota, according to Police Prosecutor Insp. E.O. Adarloye.
According to Adaraloye, the defendant and his companion planned to steal 51 pieces of bamboo trees worth N30,600 that belonged to Fatai Salami.
He claimed that the offences were against the 2006 Ogun Criminal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O.Adeyemi, admitted the defendant to N100,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the Court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
She adjourned the case until Feb.8 for further hearing. (NAN)
