Kuje prison attack

The Islamic State in West Africa Province, ISWAP, has claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s terrorists attack on Kuje Prison, Abuja.

KEMI FILANI NEWS had reported that the Nigeria Correction Service’s spokesperson, Umar Abubakar, who confirmed the attack in a statement on Wednesday, said the terrorists used explosives on the center’s fence and its main entrance to gain access to the facility.

In a video released on Wednesday night, ISWAP showed how some of its members entered the Kuje prison.

The 38 seconds video showed that the terrorists shot indiscriminately before gaining access into the prison.

The Islamic State’s A’maq Agency first released the video with an Arabic caption, “Fighters of Islamic State attacked Kuje prison in Abuja yesterday and succeeded in releasing many prisoners.”

An elderly man and young men were seen in the video shouting while claiming responsibility for the attack, with many fighters marching as vehicles and buildings were on fire.
