INEC issues certificate of return to Osun governor-elect, Adeleke

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued the certificate of return to Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The certificate of return presentation took place on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital.

KEMI FILANI NEWS recalls that the Independent National sion (INEC) on Sunday declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the Osun State governorship election.

Adeleke scored 403,371 votes to defeat the incumbent Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC, who polled 375,027 votes in a keenly contested race.

David Adeleke, music star better known as Davido, had stirred a controversy when he raised the alarm that INEC had not issued certificate of rerun to the winner, who is his uncle, 48 hours after the election.

Responding, the National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC) of INEC, Festus Okoye, had said the commission had up to 14 days to issue the winner of an election the certificate of return.
