DSS reacts to security alert over terror attack in Abuja from US Embassy

The Department of State Services, DSS, has reacted to the security alert sent out by the United States Embassy over a possible terrorist attack in Abuja, the nation’s capital, this week.

The US Mission on Sunday, listed targets as government buildings, places of worship, schools, markets, shopping malls, hotels, and bars.

Reacting, the DSS called for calm and urged Nigerians to be vigilant following the warnings.

It assured that it would work with other security agencies to maintain the peace and also appealed to Nigerians to assist security agencies with useful information regarding threats and suspicious criminal acts around them.

The statement reads, “The Department of State Services has received several enquiries relating to the security advisory issued by the US Embassy in Abuja, today, 23/10/22. The public may recall that the Service had variously issued similar warnings in the past.

”The Service calls for calm as it works with other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders to maintain peace and order in and beyond Abuja.”
