Serving as a follow-up to the locally acclaimed TV series “Sons of Caliphate,” this familial saga continues the narrative surrounding affluent, ambitious, and passionate young men—Buba, Nuhu, and Dikko.

From the onset, the series captivates with its compelling storyline and masterfully executed twists and plots. It offers a nuanced and well-conceived portrayal of the lives of Northern Nigerians, a demographic often underrepresented in mainstream Nigerian media. “WAR: Wrath And Revenge” ventures to provide a modern perspective on their experiences, shedding light on aspects of their lives that are rarely explored.

The creative team behind the Netflix series includes Dimbo Atiya as the writer, Mo Abudu as the executive producer, and Karachi Atiya as the screenwriter. The cast, a mix of former cast of “Sons of Caliphate” and fresh faces, features notable talents such as Ahide Asum in the role of Police Superintendent, Uze Usman as Police Officer, Patrick Doyle embodying Alhaji Loko, Ifeanyi Kalu portraying Buba Koda, Sofia Muhammed taking on the character of Nafisa, Ayoola Ayolola as Boston Bobby Brown, Theresa Edem playing Alicia Kama, Mofe Duncan as Nuhu Bula, Yakubu Mohammed portraying Dikko, Bikiya Graham Douglas as ASP Miriam Katung, and Rahama Sadau in the role of Binta Bula, among other talented individuals.

Nestled in the sovereign Northern State of Nigeria, “War: Wrath and Revenge” emerges as an enthralling spin-off from the beloved ‘Sons of the Caliphate.’ The narrative unfolds as it shadows the compelling journey of Nuhu Bula, navigating the intricate path towards the coveted governorship of Kowa, meticulously orchestrated by the cunning machinations of his wife, Binta Bula.

However, when Binta discovers her husband’s intentions to take a second wife, her fury becomes boundless as she fiercely fights to safeguard her love.

The movie boasts robust characters, and the casting is impeccably executed. Despite these merits, a discerning eye might catch a minor accent quibble. Some cast members, notably Patrick Doyle, occasionally strained to portray Hausa accents authentically, resulting in moments that felt forced and, at times, challenging to comprehend.

Binta Bula, portrayed by Rahama Sadau, emerges as a formidable character skillfully brought to life by the actress. Binta exudes confidence, wit, and composure. She embodies a stylish and elegant demeanor intertwined with tradition, concealing her shrewd nature behind a cool and friendly exterior.

Despite concluding with a tantalizing cliffhanger, the plot and storyline are remarkably rich, unveiling multiple layers and multidimensional characters that resonate with viewers.

The production team pays meticulous attention to detail, particularly in the costumes of the characters, especially the female ones. Impressively tailored adjustments, perhaps reflecting the passage of time, showcase the evolution of fashion when compare to “soc”.

Alicia Kama’s portrayal of contemporary Hausa ladies and Binta Bula’s impeccable traditional outfits contribute to the visual appeal. The men’s outfits and caps, particularly the intricately designed zanna caps, add an authentic touch to the fashion ensemble.

The show’s location settings serve as a visual feast, immersing viewers into the opulent world of the rich and affluent. The location scouting team excels in portraying modern Abuja living spaces, enhancing the overall aesthetic and contributing to the immersive experience of “War: Wrath and Revenge.

The movie revolves around the intricate dynamics of power, ambition, and personal conflicts within the context of political drama set in Northern Nigeria. It explores the lives of young men driven by a fervent desire for political power, navigating the challenges of addiction, love, family loyalty, and revenge in their pursuit of the governorship seat.

The narrative delves into the darker realms of corruption, betrayals, assassinations, corporate crimes, and palace affairs, providing a nuanced portrayal of the rich, cultural, and flamboyant aristocratic lifestyle prevalent in Northern Nigeria.

The movie unfolds against the vibrant backdrop of Northern Nigeria, immersing the audience in a compelling political drama that delves into the lives of individuals marked by wealth, entitlement, and unbridled ambition. Their intertwining journeys revolve around the lust for political power, addiction, love, and desire, all while grappling with the weighty obligations of family, loyalty and a thirst for revenge.

The deadly tussle between Governor Sanusi and Nuhu Bula for the governorship seat of Kowa State serves as the central conflict and provides a lens through which the characters navigate the treacherous landscape of political intrigue.
