Far From Home review: Why Netflix’s high school-themed Nigerian series triumphs

far from home review

In all honesty, we sincerely didn’t think the newly released Far From Home series on Netflix was gonna be fun to watch, especially after the trailer gave an un-original vibe of high school films that we have seen before, but surprisingly, we found the series binge-worthy.

It was so good and relatable that we didn’t want it to end, we wanted more episodes!

Far From Home is a Nigerian series that revolves around an aspiring artist Ishaya, who lands himself in grave danger while pursuing his dream.

The series is created by Damilola Elebe and Chinaza Onuzo and stars Mike Afolarin in a titular role.

The complete cast of the show includes Funke Akindele, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Mike Afolarin, Elma Mbadiwe, Adesua Etomi, Bolanle Ninalowo, and Bimbo Akintola.

Furthermore, the series is divided into five episodes with an average runtime of thirty-five to fifty minutes.

Thumbs up to all the casts, they over delivered!

Flawless performances from everyone left, right, and center especially from Bolanle Ninolowo, his swagger was too juicy. We dare say the series wasn’t star-studded for nothing!

Also, the young new faces introduced were a breath of fresh air! Mike Afolarin who played Ishaya Bello ate his role well too, can’t wait to see him in more movies.

As a matter of fact, all the characters, twists, plots, soundtrack, styling, costume and setting made the series engaging and enjoyable.

There were emotional scenes, genuinely hilarious moments, action, thrills and suspense, celebrations, romance, everything a good high school series should consist of.

We really enjoyed watching Far from home and like how they’ve set it up in a way that so many themes can be explored down the line. Kudos to everyone involved!

We however hope that when a second season of the series is released, the same tempo is maintained and not watered down.
